Julia Campbell

Hi! I am currently a 4th year PhD candidate at the University of Michigan, Earth and Environmental Sciences department.

I primarily use global climate modeling (Community Earth System Model) and programming (Python, R, Julia, etc) to analyze changes in temperature, the hydrological cycle, and carbon sequestration under past warming events.

I devote my time to studying climatology and carbon cycling in an interdisciplinary environment. My goal is to dedicate my life to creating a positive impact and mitigating climate change for the planet and its people.

I will graduate in Fall ‘25 and am looking for a job in industry, preferably involved with carbon dioxide removal (CDR) in the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM). I hope to use my environmental science, modeling, and programming background to help manage CDR projects or lower company emissions. My passion is the planet, and the VCM is a promising platform for incentivizing real climate action now.

Other than work, I absolutely love traveling the world. Recent trips outside the US include Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Austria, Hungary, Canada, Costa Rica, and Kenya! When traveling, I prioritize National Park visits and hiking. When at home, I love to cook new vegan dishes, play video and board games, and practice learning Spanish and Mandarin.
